Bank View Farm Gardens

At Bank View Farm we have 6 acres of land which we manage around our farm.

Since we bought Bank View Farm in 2009 our passion has been to create beautiful gardens surrounding our home and to landscape the wider grounds to encourage wildlife and biodiversity.  We look to create areas of interest and spaces to relax in and enjoy the wonderful setting.

B&B Gardens

Each room has its own private garden with its own distinctive character and a private outdoor seating area. There is also a sunken courtyard garden at the B&B entrance with seating and a unique water feature.

Dinosaur Garden

During the 2020 lockdown we created a new garden area in front of The Stables called the dinosaur garden due to the 8 foot Deinonychus taking centre stage in the design.  We built a new raised herb garden to enclose this space with a swinging lovers seat to relax and best appreciate the setting.  Adjacent to this garden is the BBQ area for guests to have their own BBQs.

The Oval Lawn

If you follow the avenue down to the bottom of the farm there is a gate through to the Oval Lawn which is at the centre of the main ornamental garden with the other garden and routes opening up off this.  The Viking themed play area was created during the 2020 lockdown for our grandchildren.  There is a striking seat sculpture in the bottom corner woodland area which provides wonderful views of the garden and Bank View Farm house behind.  Explore up the steps and into the cubist rill garden with its central raised fish pond, taking care if you do walk over the stepping stones along the rill.

The Orchard

On the other side of the avenue is the orchard filled with hens and geese (and giant tortoises in summer) as well as a wide variety of fruit trees.  Feel free to explore the orchard.  There are bins of food by the entrance gate so you can feed the hens.

The Potager Garden

Much time has been spent in recent years establishing The Potager Garden where we grow much of our own fruit and vegetables, as well as cut flowers to keep the B&B looking great all the year round.  Enclosed with native hedging, this garden now creates a wonderful formal garden with raised beds and a central pergola walkway leading up to a large polytunnel.  Opposite the polytunnel is our new apiary where our bees keep the B&B in honey all year round.

The Wildlife Wood

If you continue up the hill past the polytunnel you get to our meadow.  Paths up through the meadow lead to our wildlife wood with its picnic area, willow maze, stone circle and wildlife pond.  This spot at the top of our farm provides spectacular views down the valley and to Sheffield in the distance.
